Eligibility

All active, regular full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in the benefits program. Retirement plan eligibility differs. Please see 401(k) under the financial plans section for more details.

NEW/NEWLY ELIGIBLE EMPLOYEES

Benefits coverage for full-time employees begins on the first day of the following month after 30 days of full-time employment.

Qualified Life Events

After Open Enrollment, you cannot make changes to your benefits during the year unless you have a Qualified Life Event and you will have to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to make changes, unless you experience another Qualified Life Event.

Common Qualified Life Events Include: 

  • Marriage
  • Welcoming a new child
  • Loss of coverage
  • Leave of absence
  • Loss or change in employment

When you enroll yourself in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, you may also cover your eligible dependents, including:

  • Your legal spouse or qualified domestic partner
  • Children under the age of 26, regardless of student, dependency or marital status
  • Children who are past the age of 26 and are fully dependent on you for support due to a mental or physical disability and who are indicated as such on your federal tax return

If your spouse has access to healthcare coverage through their employer, they are subject to a $100 monthly surcharge if they elect Oceans Healthcare coverage. If your spouse does not work, works part time, is not eligible for coverage, has lost coverage as an active employee but has been offered COBRA or is covered by Medicare, the surcharge does not apply. 

Verification of dependents is required during enrollment. Please provide the proof documents during enrollment for all dependents. If not, coverage will default to employee only coverage. All dependents listed are subject to a dependent audit at Oceans’ discretion.
